Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night with words swirling around in your mind? These words, all of a sudden, find their place and you are reading an internal dialogue, story or poem? Like a waking dream.

This has been happening to me lately. The result has been not about designing but redesigning my thoughts, who I am, and what I might become, processing true feelings without scrutiny and letting them flow.
I find they come from my soul and are initially about myself but on reflection are about anybody.
The first of these happened after the death of my Dad. I was on a plane back to Australia to be with my family, the words were there, in my mind, I grabbed my phone, not as romantic as ‘pen to paper’, but nonetheless I allowed the words to flow. The result was an eulogy that I wondered, after reading it back to myself, if I had been the writer. There was nothing I would have changed even considering the speed at which the words came to me. This piece of intense, heartfelt writing is not something I will share with anyone but my family.
More recently I was awoken with the word soup in my mind. I grabbed my phone and created a poem that was for me, but one I thought would resonate with a member of my family as well. I sent it to them without judging myself and it was received with the most lovely of reactions.

I do not, nor will I ever, consider myself a serious writer in any way, shape or form. But for the moment, I feel comfortable allowing this part of myself to be visible to others.

………………………So, all you educated word smiths out there, “I know, ok”.

My words are simple and I am not skilled in the art of writing. I often tell my family and friends to, never fear being themselves. I’m taking my own advice, and throwing it out there, the world needs a little more soulful sharing right now.

Wishing happy days to all…
